Starbucks Workers Call for a Boycott

After many years and many broken labor laws, the Starbucks Workers United have had enough. Years of refusing to come to the table with the 12,000 union worker to establish a contract has left the organizers with few choices. As quoted in their statement on the boycott, “choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law-breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.

Going to their website, you can take the boycott pledge. Promising that you, or any organizations you have a sway in, won’t go to any Starbucks puts pressure on the corporation responsible for its hundreds of broken labor laws. For it’s refusal to give the union any respect or contract.

If, for some reason, you truly must have Starbucks specifically, there are 4 union shops in bellingham. The Meridian Cordata, the Iowa and King, Seahome Village, and the shop in old Fairhaven parkway are all under the SBWU. Alternately, there are plenty of other options around town that you can go to without giving money to labor law violators.
