Labor Day rally for Familias Unidas. We blocked loaded trucks from entering Sakuma’s processing plant.

Familias Unidas por la  Justicia is a member-run, independent union of farmworkers at Sakuma Bros. Berry Farms in Burlington, WA. They are still struggling for decent wages and housing, even though they have now won a union election at Sakuma. 14966 SEIU strike 5-14
Hospital Workers’ strike, May 13, 2015.

St. Joseph’s Hospital Strike, April 2015. Union workers, seeking to pressure hospital managers to negotiate, called a one-day strike. We were there. The bosses said they couldn’t afford to meet any of the worker’s demands- but they COULD affort to sign a 3-day contract with a union-busting company to supply temporary staff. That backfired, and the union, affiliated with SEIU 1199 NW, won a first-ever contract with the hospital.
